Dr. Gerry Gartenberg

NYS Licensed Psychotherapist, LP, Psya.D., NCPsyA

  • Helping Adults, Couples, Adolescents and Families Navigate and Thrive Through a Range of Life Issues
  • Social Anxiety Specialist
  • Performance Anxiety / Public Speaking Coach

I am a NYS licensed psychotherapist with five years of postgraduate training and thousands of hours working with people across a spectrum of cultures and identities.

I’m also a specialist in social anxiety–sometimes called performance anxiety or “stage fright”—plus a performance and presentation coach – with experience as a television reporter, professional narrator and public speaker.

My journey includes studying psychology and psychotherapy at Columbia University, where I graduated with honors and worked in various treatment settings. That was followed by a graduate degree at the University of Missouri and years of rigorous postgraduate study, supervision as well as over 1500 hours of work with clients at the Westchester Institute for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy.

My job in therapy is to hear your inner voice–the stories you tell yourself about yourself and that you might be telling me now: Stories about what distresses you, stops you, motivates you, inspires you.

Your Best Version

If all of my study and work with people has taught me anything, it’s that there’s no one-size-fits-all therapy: Our lives don’t fit neatly into diagnostic categories or personality types. We each bring a unique story, unique challenges, strengths and dreams.

My job in therapy is to hear your inner voice–the stories you tell yourself about yourself and that you might be telling me now: Stories about what distresses you, stops you, motivates you, inspires you.

I help clients identify the disabling parts of their inner voice with its stories of doubt, disconnection or emptiness, to name a few—and to discover and nurture their “authentic voice.”

In the process, many have found the capacity to act with more compassion, optimism and purpose, and taken greater ownership of their lives.

They’ve become the best version of themselves.

Please call, text or email me for a confidential conversation to find the best version of yourself.
